The McEwan Award - The UK's premier award for Social Archtitecture has longlisted F/LA's Biggar Youth Project.
The project provides shelter, warmth and companionship to an oft-neglected community - a town’s young people, at a loose end after and around school. It does so in a historic livestock mart, situated just between the High School and the town’s central mercat, repaired, warmed and opened-up to its community using a suite of careful techniques aligned to the ways the old building moves and breathes, so avoiding plastics, impermeability and toxins.
