FLA are delighted to announce that our recently completed Biggar Youth Project received a Highly Commended recognition at the Architects Journal Annual Awards ceremony.
The project was commended within the Refurbishment under £10m category and represented one of only two projects located in Scotland.
The AJ judges noted that:
This refurbishment of youth club facilities in a historic market building in Biggar in Lanarkshire improved building fabric and thermal performance and introduced energy generation on-site. The judges were bowled over by what had been achieved on such a modest budget by architect and client. ‘It’s a really calming, quiet, fit-for-purpose space internally,’ one judge said. ‘Organisationally, they deserve a prize.’
