Athron Hill - a 35 home development tucked into the Ochil Hills in Perthshire - has been shortlisted for both Excellence in Sustainability and Housing Development of the Year in the 2024 Scottish Home Awards.
The brown-field site is nestled on the south-facing slope of Perthshire's Ochil Hills, with majestic views over Loch Leven and the Lomond Hills to the Pentland Hills beyond. A new infrastructure of roads, tracks, lighting, and services are sensitively integrated into the landscape. Homes step down with the landscape, opening to the views and creating greater volumes within living spaces. ‘L’ plans create sheltered entrances whereas a ‘slipped’ plan angles an ancillary snug to look towards the views. The agricultural context of Perth and Kinross was used to inform a material palette with zinc roofing and timber rainscreen cladding, giving the site a contemporary but contextually responsive appearance.
Congratulations to our client Byzantian Developments as well as all the consultants and contractors involved, and well done to all those shortlisted in the awards. The winners will be announced later this year at the awards ceremony on 13th June.
